Did you know that Shakespeare never went to college?

Did you know that his plays were never published when he was alive? Two actors published his plays after he died.

Did you know that William Shakespeare invented over 1,700 words, including: puke, madcap and torture?

We make Shakespeare irresistible to kids! Students emerge from this series of in-school workshops knowing more about William Shakespeare than most adults…and they have a blast doing it!

An enthusiastic professional actor visits your school, working with students in an entire grade once a week for six-eight weeks. (Total class time is 6-8 hours per week.) Students learn:

• The fascinating history of the Elizabethan stage
• Secrets of deciphering Shakespearean language
• The plots of four major plays by acting them out

The last class includes a performance day where all of the classes perform pieces for each other. “Shakespeare Comes to School” helps instill a love of language in children, helping them meet important benchmarks and fulfilling National Arts Standards.

*”Shakespeare Comes to School” makes a wonderful grade level tradition, as kids become part of a mysterious Shakespeare society!

$50 per session (call for details or to book for 2007-2008)

*recommended for grades 4, 5, 6 or 7
